Wrench Selection and lubrication
Proper wrench selection and lubrication are essential for achieving accurate bolt tension and safe installations. Always choose a wrench based on bolt diameter, grade, and project requirements — refer to the Applied Bolting Torque Chart for guidance. For best results, use a recommended lubricant like Castrol Stick Wax on threads and washer faces to reduce torque loss and ensure consistent performance.

Recommendations:
Applied Bolting Technology™ suggests using Castrol Stick Wax, Hougen Slick Stick or similar as an effective lubricant for nuts and bolts. If you have questions on recommended lubricants please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Application Instructions:
1. Thread Lubrication – Apply wax along the threads where the nut will engage with the bolt. This step addresses approximately 50% of the input torque consumed during tightening.
2. Washer Face Lubrication – Swipe the washer face of the nut with the wax where it will contact the flat washer. This step accounts for about 40% of the input torque consumed.
